Neighbors pool together for a new mailbox and median

The 5 owners of the 60-year-old letter box stand received a notice from the US Postal Service. The mailbox stand was not to code and had to be upgraded. PG&E wanted the Red Ironbark Eucalyptus behind the letterbox out of their lines. It was clear that the whole median, a peninsula-like piece of land in between neighbors, needed a fresh start.

I designed the letterbox stand wide enough to accommodate 5 new and modern boxes yet narrow enough for clearance of parking cars. The plant palette chosen for the median is composed of South-African drought-tolerant Leucospermums, Australian Anigozanthos, native Hesperaloes and Agaves which all blend together in a warm color palette.
